Unfortunately, the Steelers weren't as lucky, and our collective run at the Pool came to a crushing OT end today. A week-11 finish is a great result. We'll be back next year!
Jess and I went to the Patriots-Jets game at Gillette on Sunday. We tailgated with Jess' coworker et al. and soaked in the exceptionally festive atmosphere. The tailgating knew no bounds, extending at least a mile north of the stadium in every roadside (Rt. 1) nook and cranny imaginable. The weather was very seasonable, thank goodness. As for the contest, the Pats dispatched the Jets with relative ease. Sanchez couldn't seem to hit the side of a barn! We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the whole experience together.

Our multi-friend yard sale this past Saturday (10/17) was a success. We took in over $630 collectively! Our take was about $180, and it will be going to buying a Roomba!
Snowflakes fell in Charlestown yesterday - DOH! Another tough week for the Pool - we lost two of our four entries. Going to see David Cross this evening. One of the guys on my Wednesday night team has a habit of manipulating photos of his teammates as well as producing some more extravagant follies ... Try JibJab Sendables® eCards today! On Saturday, October 3, Jess and I returned to the world of competitive running. After a 20-year hiatus since Islip High School track, we were ready to relive all the joy and glory of mindlessly trotting along in a complete state of disgust. The occasion was a 5k fundraiser run for Samaritans - a great cause. Despite the steady rain and puddles, we both set blistering paces. I scorched the course up at a pace of 10:13 a mile, and Jess burned it up at 11:40 a mile. Obviously, we had not lost a step since high school. In all seriousness, we were both very happy with how we did and glad to have done it.
We took a beating this past Sunday with the Pool. Both Cliff and I blew up with the Green Bay loss - so much for a 9-point home team favorite. One of the John/Rich combos went down with the other big upset, the Titans loss to the Texans. So, going on to week 3, we'll see Tim, Rich, John, and one John/Rich combo. Good luck guys!
This should be a decent game (1PM on CBS). The Jets beat up on Houston, for what that is worth. The Pats were out to lunch for 55 minutes against the not-so-great Bills, but managed to regain some form at then end, with a nice gift from the Bill's kickoff returner. Anyways, the cool thing is that we are going to the Jets-at-Pats game on November 22! Hopefully, both teams will be playing well (week 11) and the matchup will be intense! Look for us in one corner of the lighthouse/bridge endzone, about 25 rows back . This game will complete our sweep of all the Boston sports teams in a single year: Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, Revolution (9/26), and the Pats! So, we can check that off the ol' bucket list.
My 6v6 Wednesday night team had a strong season once again. We finished 6-0. The playoffs were tonight and the scheduling was a challenge: semi-finals at 8pm, winner plays in the final at 9pm. We went down 0-2 in the first half of the semi game. We rallied (I scored our first goal) and the game ended in regulation at 4-4. Sudden death. 15 minutes later, we put one in the net and won. On to the finals, drenched in sweat. We went down again, but rallied once more and were victorious, 4-2! That makes 5 championships in the last 6 seasons. Dynasty?
