On Saturday, October 3, Jess and I returned to the world of competitive running. After a 20-year hiatus since Islip High School track, we were ready to relive all the joy and glory of mindlessly trotting along in a complete state of disgust. The occasion was a 5k fundraiser run for Samaritans - a great cause. Despite the steady rain and puddles, we both set blistering paces. I scorched the course up at a pace of 10:13 a mile, and Jess burned it up at 11:40 a mile. Obviously, we had not lost a step since high school. In all seriousness, we were both very happy with how we did and glad to have done it.
